Memphis Strings was started by cellist, Ella Bondar, to create a company that connects freelance musicians to the events that need them.
We contact and hire local musicians from the tri-state area to form the ensemble that performs at your event.
Memphis Strings is committed to providing the best music experience to our customers who are trusting us with the music and atmosphere of their event.
Chicago-born cellist Ella Bondar has performed around the country with the top summer festival orchestras, including Carnegie Hall’s inaugural season of NYO2 as Principal cello, Roundtop Festival Orchestra and studied at renowned institutions such as Meadowmount School of Music and Tanglewood Institute.. Although she concentrates most of her studies and time with performance, she has a passion for pedagogy and is a registered Suzuki teacher.
Because of her interest in the effect of history on music and art and how one intersects with the other, she is focusing her cognate studies on Russian History in the University of Memphis’ history department.
Ella received a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from Cleveland Institute of Music with Dr. Melissa Kraut and a minor in French from Case Western Reserve University in 2023. Presently, she is currently working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in cello performance at University of Memphis under the direction of Dr. Kimberly Patterson, from whom she also has received her Master of Music degree this spring.
